It’s perfectly normal to hear sound coming directly from your record player, even with the speakers turned off. This happens because of the physical way turntables produce sound.
As the stylus (needle) moves along the grooves of the vinyl record, it vibrates to pick up the music embedded in the grooves. These vibrations create tiny sounds that can be heard as the tonearm and cartridge work to translate the grooves into music.
Normally, the sound picked up by the stylus is amplified and played through your speakers, but even without amplification, the natural vibrations from the stylus interacting with the record are audible.
So, if you’re hearing a faint playback directly from the turntable itself, don’t worry—it’s a normal part of how record players function!
